Angular contact ball bearings have raceways in inner and outer rings that are displaced with respect to each other in direction of bearing axis. They are designed to accommodate combined loads, i.e. simultaneously acting radial and axial loads.
Axial load carrying capacity of angular contact ball bearings increases with increasing contact angle. Contact angle a Is defined as angle between line joining points of contact of ball and raceways in radial plane, along which load is transmitted from one raceway to another and line perpendicular to bearing axis.
