Family of Four (Extra Large) - Code DS09 The Family of Four (Extra Large) is De Stijls biggest sculpture. Using geometric surfaces, four figures are closely positioned to create one solid unit. The sculpture is playful with the children scattered around the form, holding onto the parent figures. The father figure is broad and tall and is the foundation of the form. Standing in front of him is the mother figure leaning back on him. Her appearance is nurturing and feminine, as the toddler clings to her side. Another toddler, slightly older can be seen at the back, holding onto the fathers legs. It would seem the child is hiding, playing a game and feels secure with the fathers presence. The cubist form of the sculpture makes it unique from our other products. once again, interpretation of the family dynamics will be specific to each person.
