The painting is by W.Geoff Rollinson, an English artist who lives in the picturesque Roman village of Ribchester in Lancashire. It was not a village, really, it was a fort, and they were not Romans, the were Sarmatians. But it das not metter in this particular case.Not, it is just for the information. They were the prisoners of the war. They were captured by Romans and sent to Ribchester to support Roman order in England and to protect England from Scotland . 6000 of them out of 8000. 2000 were sent to the other Roman forts in Europe.Sarmatia-itwas the territory of the Ukraine and Russia.
