The USS Constellation was built in Baltimore and launched September 7, 1797 by Joshua Humphreys. She saw service during the Quasi War with France and in 1799 defeated the French frigate L'Insurgente. She remained in service until 1854 when she was broken up at Norfolk, Virginia. Many of her timbers were used for the construction of the new Constellation Sloop of War, which is now rested in a museum in Baltimore harbor. Model is scratch built from hard wood by master craftsmen which is full assembled and ready for display. We also have table/ floor display case available with plexiglass to preserve the model away from dust.
