Properties

In addition to its application as an adhesion promoter in formulations and primers, silane AC-220 functions as a surface modifier in fillers and pigments, where it improves the dispersibility of the filler and the mechanical properties – such as flexural strength, tensile strength and modulus - of the composites. The silane also reduces the filler's sedimentation tendency in the uncured polymer.

Silane AC-220 also greatly increases water (vapor) and corrosion resistance.

Applications

Silane AC-220 is an vital additive for many applications, such as follows:

 Glass fiber or glass fabric composites：As a finish or size constituent

 Mineral fiber insulating materials and abrasives: As an additive to phenolic resin binders

 Foundry resins: As an additive to phenolic,  furan and melamine resins

Sealants and adhesives: As a primer or additive and for chemical modification

 Mineral-filled polymers or HFFR cables:  For pretreatment of fillers and pigments

 Paints and coatings: As an additive and primer for improving adhesion to the substrate

 As a primer for glass and metal
