Alginic acid is a natural polysaccharidc cxtractcd from seaweed. It is made of the two types of aldehyde acids. Flaxen powder, isn' t soluble in water.
2. Description :
Alginic acid, a polysaccharide extracted from kelp-like Phaeophyceae, formed by α-L-Mannuronic acid (M section) and β-D-Guluronic acid (G section) connected through 1,4-glucosidic bond. The acid is instability state and can react with positive metal ion to form alginate series production.
Molecular formula : (C6H8O6) n
Properties : White or light yellow powder, insoluble in water, odorless and almost tasteless.
3. Applications :
A. Pharmaceutical industry:
Main raw material for gastropine. Agent for the new medicine PSS,With the strong dispersing and emulsifying character.
B . Food industry:
Can combine with many kinds of ions to create a series of salts, such as radium alginate, potassium alginate, calcium alginate ctc. Applied in health food or used as health food additive.
C. Environment protection:
With the characters of its strong adsorbability, it is used in water purification processing etc..
