3. How A709Gr.50W weathering steel stop continue rusting and its application
A709Gr.50W Steel never completely stops rusting. The weathering process occurs after the panel come out. It eventually decreases and from that point on the finish acts as a protective coating on the base metal.
This protective coating essentially stops the corrosion. Laboratory analysis of the rust shown that the alloying elements in the steel, such as copper, chromium, and nickel produced insoluble compounds that clogged the pores at the rust and steel interface, ending the regeneration.
