Triple twist hexagonal mesh stone filled gabion baskets have been used successfully in construction work. They are sometimes commonly called stone filled cages. The triple twist weaving of the gabion mesh prevents unravelling. Woven mesh gabion baskets and mattresses are made of this mesh fabric. Woven mesh gabion baskets and mattresses are available withplain heavily galvanised wire or PVC coated galvanised wire for maximum design life. PVC coated gabions have a design life of up to 120 years depending on exposure conditions. The standard colour of the PVC coating is grey with other colours available to special order.
All stone filled woven mesh gabion baskets are a valid and effective technical solution in the design, construction and maintenance of a variety of protective flexible structures. Woven mesh being extremely tough and flexible makes this the ideal solution when the going gets rough.
