According to the configuration of the sealing surfaces, valves can be divided into wedge gate valves and parallel gate valves. Wedge gate valves can be divided into single gate valves, double gate valves and flexible gate valves; the parallel gate valves can also be divided into single types and double types. According to the thread locations of valve stems, valves can be divided into rising stem gate valves and non-rising stem gate valves. The gate valves can only be used for cutting off of full opening and full closing in the pipes.

Advantages of the structure: small in fluid resistance, short in opening and closing torques, labor-saving in opening and closing, unrestricted in flow direction of the medium, not disturbing the flow nor reducing the pressure, short in structural length, superior in sealing property, simple in figure, superior in casting technology and wide in application.
