The global valve, sometimes called stop valve, is turned on and off by a movable plug/disc sealing an internal baffle in the spherical body. Connecting the plug/ disc on one end, the global valve stem is operated by screw action of a hand wheel on the other end. The stem is typically slim with tread and connecting rod at the end for plug/ disc.
