Introduction

Deep groove ball bearings, which have deep, uninterrupted raceway grooves, are the most representative and widely used ball bearing types because they are available in a wide variety of seal, shield and snap-ring arrangements. Deep Groove ball bearings can sustain radial, axial, or composite loads and because of simple design, this bearing type can be produced to provide both high-running accuracy and high-speed operation. Deep Groove ball bearings with seals or shields are standardized. They contain proper amount of grease in advance.

Types

1. Single row deep groove ball bearing

Single row deep groove ball bearing are the most common used type. They are simple in design, non-separable, suitable for high and even very high speeds and are robust in operation, requiring little maintenance. These bearings often have steel shields or rubber seals installed on one or both sides and are prelubricated with grease.

Single row deep groove ball bearings come in three numerical series representing the size and load capacity of each. They are:

6000 Series - Extra Light Ball Bearings – Ideal for limited space applications

6200 Series - Light Series Ball Bearings – Balanced between space and load capacity

6300 Series - Medium Series Ball Bearings – Ideal for heavier load capacity applications

2. Double row deep groove ball bearing

Correspond in design to single row deep groove ball bearings, they have deep uninterrupted raceways and high conformity between the balls and raceways. They are able to carry axial loads acting in both directions in addition to radial loads.

Double row deep groove ball bearings are very suitable for bearing arrangements where the load carrying capacity of a single row bearing is inadequate. For the same outside and bore diameters, double row bearings are slightly wider than single row bearings but have considerably higher load carrying capacity than single row bearings in the 62 and 63 series.
