Angular contact ballbearings have high limiting speed, and can carry radial and axial loads at thesame time.
1. Single-rowangular contact ball bearings
Single-row angularcontact ball bearings can only carry pure axial loads in one direction, and thecapacity increases with contact angle. The nominal contact angles are 15°, 25° and40°. When the bearings carry radial loads, the inner and outer rings will be separatedbecause of additional axial force. They are normally mounted in pairs.
Single-row angularcontact ball bearings have two structures:separable and nonseparable, becauseof more balls in bearings, high loading capacity and stiffness can be gained.
The basic type ofseparable angular contact ball bearings is type S70000. Type SN70000 haveseparable inner ring, and the inner and outer rings can be mounted respectivelywhen the installation conditions are restricted.
There areseveral basic types of nonseparable angular contact ball bearings as follows:
Type70000C,in which, contact angle is 15°,and the counter bore is in outer ring.
Type70000AC,in which, contact angle is 25°,andthe counter bore is in outer ring.
Type 70000B,in which, contact angle is 40°,and the counter bore is in outer ring.
metal solidcages are mainly used in single-row angular contact ball bearings. Phenoliccloth laminated tube solid cages are usually used for high speed applications, and the maximum temperature is120℃.
2. Double-rowangular contact ball bearings
Double-row angularcontact ball bearings are nonseparable. They can carry combined loads which ismain in radial and moment loads, and limit axial displacement of shafts orhousings in two directions, the nominal contact angle is 30°,they have higherstiffness comparing with single-row bearings. They correspond to a pair ofsingle-row angular contact ball bearings mounted back to back, but the width isnarrower. Therefore, they are especially suitable for applications required highstiffness.
Double-row angularcontact ball bearings usually have fitting slot, the side of the racewaywithout fitting slot must carry main loads when bearings are in use.
The obliquity is limitedbetween inner and outer rings of double-row angular contact ball bearings, thepermissible slant angles depend on the internal clearance, dimensions, internaldesign, the forces and the moments of the bearings. It must be ensured thathigher additional stress can’t be formed in bearings when the permissible slantangle is maximum. The bearing life will be shortened ,the running accuracy willbe reduced and the noise will be increased if there was slant angle betweeninner and outer rings.Nylon or brass solid cages are generally used in double-rowangular contact ball bearings.
3. Four-pointcontact ball bearings
Four-point contact ballbearings are separable bearings,in which, type QJ0000 has two-piece inner ring, type QJF0000 has two-piece outer ring, their contact angle are both 35°.Whencarrying pure radial loads, each ball contacts with rings at four-point, andthey are two-point contact under pure axial loads. The bearings can carry axialloads in two directions and certain moment loads, and have the features ofsingle-row and double-row angular contact ball bearings. They only can worknormally in high speed when two-point contact is formed.
Brass or aluminium solidcages are exactly suitable for four-point contact ball bearings.
