Linear Unit KRF – maximum load-to-size ratio
As a turnkey solution, Linear Unit KRF with its criss-crossed roller guide offers a high load-carrying capacity in a space-saving solution. Four high-strength steel tracks are installed directly into the profile contour of the support profile, which is just 40 mm wide, and serve as guides. The steel tracks are particular wear-resistant and create a rigid connection without edges, even over long stroke lengths.
The sliding carriage, which is milled from a single block of high-strength aluminium , uses eight strong rollers aligned in a criss-cross pattern. This alignment means that instead of being installed at a 90° angle to the slide surface, the rollers are at a 45° or 135° angle. As a result, they run on the top and underside of the recess in the support profile.
The flat steel strips produce ideal rolling properties
The rollers also support each other in this alignment, because forces are not channelled in just one direction. Regardless of how weight is distributed on the slide, the rollers always accommodate the load as radial forces, making them four times stronger than when carrying load in an axial direction only.
The flat steel strips produce ideal rolling properties, thereby minimising Hertzian contact stress and resulting in especially smooth and low-abrasion running, even at high speeds.
Robust design with a wide range of attachment options
Thanks to its robust design, the system's service life is estimated at 10,000 km, even when the sliding carriage is loaded with up to 250 kg – and despite the extremely compact dimensions. Linear Unit KRF is driven by a timing-belt drive.
The sliding carriage offers a wide range of attachment options and has an integrated End Cap and Lubricating System. The robust criss-cross rollers also require very little maintenance and only need to be lubricated every six months or 2500 km.
