This allows transmission fluid to press on rear side of ring, which presses against pump face, trapping more fluid coming in and going out of the transmission pump. It reduces the amount of fluid leaking between the gears and the gear pump housing and reduces the friction between the gears and the gear housing. The Results: Provides more fluid to the transmission, Increase in torque convertor pressure, Increase in cooler flow, Increase in shift pressure, Decrease in the heat in the transmission, which is the biggest problem in transmission failure.
