Spring energized PTFE seal is a unni-directional u-cups seals. An energizer is required to provide a pre-load for low pressure sealing and to maintain intimater lip contact with the ating hardware. As the seal wears the spring continues to exert pressure on the lip until the useful performance of the seal is exhausted. The seal is designed to have the pressure entering the "U". Seals can be used for high vacuum to over 100, 000 psi(combined with the appropriately designed back-up ring.

Spring energized PTFE seal is widely used in extrem temperatures, aggressive environments, food, drug, chemical processes, electronic and so on.
