1. How Polyurethane Foam Is Formed?

 

Polyurethane Spray Foam Insulation is formed when two chemicals(Diisocyanate and Polyol) are mixed together in the presence ofsuitable catalyst and activators. In spray foams, this takes placein the small mixing chambers of the hand-held spray gun. The gun isfed by hoses from metering pumps placed in each component drumchemicals. On mixing, the reaction gives off heat which is used tovaporize a refrigerant blowing agent which causes the mix to expandto a foam some 30 times the volume of the liquid constituents.Thus, the normal density of the foam is in the range of 30 to 38kg/m3, and by virtue of the low thermal conductivity of the gasentrapped within the foam cells, provides excellent insulationvalue.

 

2. What we should do for the surfacepreparation?

 

Removal of loose particles (paints & rust).

Free from oil, water, dust & grease.

 

3. Polyurethane Insulation Application

• Polyurethane insulation is sprayed directly to the surface of roofor to any substrate.
• One (1") inch thick is the minimum required thickness of thefoam.
• Appearance of the foam is most likely orange peel to tree bark(depends on wind shear)
