Butyl tape and its solutions

Butyl tape is a type of adhesive sealing tape that has a widerange of applications. The tape comes in single- and double-sidedversions, and is used in the construction and repair industriesmore than in any other industry. The tape offers unusual propertiesthat other forms of tape and sealant cannot provide. The mainadvantage of butyl tape is that it combines the adhesive power oftape with the sealing power of caulk and other sealingproducts.

Roofing

One of the original uses for butyl tape is for roofs. The tapeprotects and seals cracks, seams and even small holes on thesurface of a roof. In most cases, the tape works best on smooth,dirt- and grit-free roofs. The tape can hold many types of roofingtogether.

Vents

Butyl tape can be used on all vents leading from the inside of abuilding to the outside. The tape works to block the space betweenthe wall and the vent, preventing air flow from entering or exitingthe building around the vent and keeping moisture from entering thebuilding.

Pipes

In some cases, butyl tape will also work as a waterproofing tapefor pipes. Unless the leak is extremely small, however, butyl tapeworks best as a temporary fix.

Windows and Glass

Butyl tape can also be used as a glass sealant. The butyl tapeused for this application is double-sided and is a form of glazingtape. When a window is installed into a frame, the butyl tape actsas an insulating and adhesive barrier between the glass and theframe.

Automotive

Butyl tape is wide use on automotive to effectively secure thewire harnesses and the cables which are employed in any automotiveinstallation. It designed to stick to any substrate and to fastenwires to metal panels such as the kick panels, door panels, andinstrument panels.

Butyl tape is impermeable to air and used in many applicationsrequiring an airtight rubber. Usually, butyl tape for airconditioner usage is sheets.
