How to use PTFE Thread Seal Tape
Piping systems are an important part of almost all homesbuildings that use plumbing, gas and other utilities. Pipesconstructed of metal or PVC plastic are intended to withstandextreme temperatures and changes in pressure. For this reason, thepipe threads require sealing in order to reinforce the system andensure proper function. PTFE tape is one of the most effective andcommonly used methods of providing an airtight seal.
Instructions

Choose a roll of PTFE pipe tape with 3to 4 mm thickness and adensity of 1g per cubic centimeter (CC). CCs are equivalent tomilliliters. These are the ideal parameters for providing the mosteffective seal for pipe threads.

Wrap the tape tightly around the male pipe thread. only apply onecomplete rotation in the direction of the thread spiral.

Tear the used tape from the rest of the roll, and draw the looseend tightly around the threads to ensure that the free end does notoverhang. This will prevent fitment issues later on.

Use your fingernails to press the PTFE tape firmly at theoverlapping points. The tape should conform to the threadedsurface.

Assemble the male and female pipes to check for proper fitment.PTFE tape is applicable on both PVC plastic pipe threads andgalvanized metal piping.
