High pressure laminate is produced by saturating multiple layersof kraft paper with phonelic resin.A printed decor paper is placedon the top suface of the kraft paper before pressing.
The sanwich is fused togrther under high heat and pressure.
Because phenolic and melamine resins are thermoset plastics, thecuring process transforms the resin into plastic by a cross linkingprocess that converts the paper sheets into a single, rigidlaminated sheet. Thermosetting creates strong, irreversible bondsthat contribute to HPL’s durability.
