At the beginning of 1960s, BAMTRI started to develop EB welding, plasma spraying, laser drilling and cutting technologies and equipment, all of which have been applied in aeronautical manufacture. After the National Key Laboratory of High Energy Density Beam Processing Technology was established in 1995, HEDB technology has been rapidly developed. Remarkable research achievements and economic benefits have been obtained. The technical level of laser beam machining, EB machining, ion beam and plasma machining and abrasive flow machining is the first class in China. This comprehensive ability has put BAMTRI in the leading position in China and therefore has made BAMTRI capable to conduct scientific research, to tackle key problem, to develop associated equipment, to apply them into production practice, to perform machining as well as to offer technical consultation in the following areas:
