Ceramic Knife
Introduction
"Zirconia Diamond" is an advanced ceramic material made from zirconia (ZrO2) and first developed by Russian scientists in 1975. The ceramic knife is made using very high pressures and temperatures, which give it "diamond-like" characteristics.
Properties
1. The ceramic knife has high hardness, so will remain sharp for longer compared to conventional stainless steel knives.
2. The fine structure of the surface means it is hygienic to use and easy to clean.
3. The ceramic is corrosion resistant, so there is no risk of bacterial growth as with some stainless steel knives and no contamination of food from metallic impurities.
4. It is light weight and easy to use.
Precautions
1. It is advisable to use the ceramic knife only on wooden or plastic chopping boards. Do not use on a stone chopping block.
2. Use for bread/fruit/vegetables/fish and meat, etc. Do not chop or prise as this may damage the sharp blade.
3. Clean using water or detergent, do not put in dishwasher.
4. Keep in a safe place and away from children.
5. Do not sharpen with a traditional steel knife sharpener.
6. Do not carry in aircraft passenger cabin!
