 INTRODUCE:

Often termedthe ‘multi-purpose’ extinguisher, as it can be used on classes A, B& C fires. Best for running liquid fires (Class B). Willefficiently extinguish Class C gas fires, But beware,it can bedangerous to extinguish A gas fire without first isolating the gassupply. Special powders are available for class D metalfires.

BC - This is the regular type ofdry chemical extinguisher. It is filled with sodium bicarbonate orpotassium bicarbonate. The BC variety leaves a mildly corrosiveresidue which must be cleaned immediately to prevent any damage tomaterials.

ABC - This is the multipurposedry chemical extinguisher. The ABC type is filled with monoammoniumphosphate, a yellow powder that leaves a sticky residue that may bedamaging to electrical appliances such as acomputer.
