Dry-charged Vented motorcycle batteries must be filled with electrolyte or “activated” before use. Pure water should be put into the battery container every 3-4 month in order to keep the battery working well, ie: to maintain the battery. 

The advantage of dry-charged batteries is long, indefinite shelf life before electrolyte is added.
