We are Head over Heels over this cool climate Merlot fromVictoria. Deep and vibrant in colour, this wine has very expressivearomas of plum pudding with underlying notes of coffee and rosepetal. There are an abundance of generous ripe fruit flavours thatare beautifully balanced by a velvety structure that has a long andlingering finish. VINTAGE 2004 VARIETY Merlot 100% REGION VictoriaWINEMAKER James Ceccato VINTAGE Cool, wet conditions in Septemberdelayed the start of the growing season with budburst occurringduring the first week of October. Below average temperatures thatfollowed resulted in very slow shoot growth. Late November rainfallcoupled with warmer temperatures saw rapid shoot growth. Floweringstarted in the first two weeks of December and the warm, dryconditions meant a short flowering period with excellent fruit set.January saw unusually low temperatures with well below averagerainfall. The vines progressed at a comfortable rate as growersengaged in crop thinning due to above average bunch weights andberry numbers. Harvest commenced late February. Moderate daytemperatures and cool nights during March and April enhanced colourdevelopment. Minimal rainfall along with the driest January toApril periods on record for the region. Warm, dry conditions sawall varieties reaching baume targets. FOOD MATCH Perfect with rackof lamb, tender veal or simply anytime!
