Food SanitationLaw
Regarding food, additives, apparatus, containers and packaging,the law establishes the criteria from the point of safety andhealth. Tableware is also regulated by this law.
The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare establishes thestandard by regulating the materials which must not be included inkitchen apparatus like tableware, and by regulating the materialswhich are dissolved from the products and may affect food.
The specific standards on plastic apparatus, containers andpackaging are provided in Notification No. 370 of the Ministry ofHealth, Labor and Welfare (1959).
Under the guidance of former Ministry of Health and Welfare,related industry of resin manufacturers and plastic housewaremanufacturers controls safety and health by establishingself-standards for every material of plastics while complementingFood Sanitation Law.
Sanshin Kako is a member of “Japan Hygienic Olefin And StyrenePlastics Association” and “Japan Industry Union of PlasticHouseware Manufacturers”, and complies with self-standards of bothgroups.
