It is an outstanding plastic with the best self-lubrication, impact absorbing properties and the highest resistance to abrasion, impact, chemicals of any thermoplastics polymer. It is regarded as an amazing material. Ultra long molecular chain make it difficult for processing, it cannot flow at melting, so traditional methods don't work.



UHMW-PE's main properties:

1. Impact strengthUHMW-PE has the highest impact strength of any engineering plastic, about three times that of nylon, two times that of PC, five times that of ABS, withstands repeated impaction. Even at -196 (Celsius scale), it is tough, together with it's superior abrasion and corrosion resistance. UHMW-PE has made itself ideally suited for industrial applications in complicate and rough environment.

2. Light weight and easily machinedUHMW-PE is lighter than water, weighing approximately 1/8 that of steel. The same part UHMWPE has lower price than steel, need no maintain, easy to be machined, conventionally sawed, milled, planed and drilled. So UHMWPE has a competitive price.

3. Abrasion resistanceUHMW-PE's abrasion resistance beats any plastics even steel.

4. Self-lubrication UHMW-PE is self-lubricant, as a bearing even without grease it works better than steel or bronze bearing with grease. UHMW-PE friction parts need no lubricant, maintaining easily, operating smoothly, having least friction. It is a superb material for use wear parts in machinery and equipment.

5. Noise and vibration absorbingUHMWPE has the best impaction absorbing property, so it dampens noise and vibration soundly.

6. Non-caking and stickingUHMW-PE's surface absorption affinity is very feeble, materials are difficult to stick to it. UHMW-PE's water absorption is less than 0.01% only 1% that of nylon 66. In water environment it's very stable, can resist the attachment of algae and fungus.
