Castro Marim's Traditional Sea Salt is produced in salt marshes situated near the historical village of Castro Marim, in the East Algarve, Portugal. This area is within the boundaries of a natural reserve and wonderfully pristine area-Castro Marim's and Vila Real de Santo Antonio Sapal's Natural Reserve.

The production is absolutely traditional-precipitated by natural means and manually recolted with the aid of traditional wooden tools, without the use of mechanized machinery. Our Salt and Flower of Salt / Fleur de Sel is handraked and highly pure, not requiring further washing or purifying actions.

Our traditional Sea Salt maintains the great majority of the minerals and trace elements (sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium, iron, zinc, manganese) present in the sea water.

At Castro Marim, the salt production actually promotes the quality of the habitat of several animal and vegetable species of recognized ecological interest. It creates ideal conditions for the development of nutrients and shelter for many aquatic birds.
