Paulger Control Systems
For Gold Coast based Paulger Control Systems, their recent expansion has been a case of “right time, right place’.
Managing Director Alan Paulger formed the family electrical business shortly after moving to Queensland from Coffs Harbour in 1989, first working as an auto electrician.
“We were based at Bribie Island, just north of Brisbane and because the area is a popular boating mecca, we got into marine electrical because of local demand” says Alan. Then a family move in 1998 brought Alan to the Gold Coast where he formed International Marine Electrics. “We then started to concentrate on the design and installation of electrical system and components for new boats”, added Alan. It wasn’t long before Alan sold his Bribie Island business in 1998 to concentrate on marine electrical solutions.
Says Alan, “We soon developed a solid base of clients who wanted the best in electrical installations and we were able to offer a one-stop service”. Such has been the growth in the services offered by International Marine Electrics that Alan’s three sons, Reece, Tyson and Jeremy are all now heavily involved in the business.
“Although we have had substantial experience in customizing systems for boats, particularly dive and charter boats, we now tend to specialize in new boat installations”, adds Alan.
Prominent Original Equipment Manufacturers are now using Paulger Control Systems for their design and installation services.
The Company has, in more recent times, also concentrated on the development of the Paulger Control Systems range – a series of electronic systems designed and manufactured by Alan as a total turn-key approach.
The Neal Digital Commander system has been developed locally to provide a quality alternative for those manufacturers looking to install electronic controls to their boats. Already Alan Paulger has developed a complete range of controls for the Steyr marine diesel engines while their keyless control systems have now been adopted by Sunrunner Sports Cruisers as standard on their new cruisers.
A big component of their work in the marine sector is in the design, and installation of Digital Switching Systems. They also have a large range of quality instrumentation, chain counters, tachometers, rudder angle indicators and a vessel tracking system.
Not content with their recent achievements, Paulger Control Systems have now taken on agencies for a range of innovative marine electrical components such as – Raymarine, VDO, Hella Marine, Victron Engergy Systems, Maxwell Winches and Specialised Lighting products to name a few.
For Alan Paulger, it has been a labour of love in developing International Marine Electrics and the Paulger electronic control systems. “The development of the Neal Digital Commander (so named after Clarry Neal, the original inventor of the control box), has shown that Australian ingenuity particularly in castings and electronics is equal to the best in the world”, says Alan. “Our keyless engine control systems provides absolute security for boat owners completely eliminating the need to keys. The touch pad system only requires the entry of a unique user password to start the motors and access the electrical controls on a boat. It is new generation technology at its best”, says Alan.
What a refreshing change to see an Australian based company provide leading edge technology to the marine industry. For further information of the range of products and services offered by Paulger Control Systems, phone 07 3823 2003
