ICSHP is a public and non-profit institution directly under auspices of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), China's Ministry of Water Resources and Ministry of Commerce. In the meantime, ICSHP is the headquarters of International Network on Small Hydro Power (INSHP) which is an international organization with more than 400 members from 82 countries. Since its establishment in 1994, ICSHP has trained over 1000 engineers from 60 countries and provided technical consultations, feasibility studies, designs, equipment supplies and installations on SHP in over 50 developing countries, as well as organized more than 50 international conferences/workshops both in china and abroad. Through the South-South cooperation activities, China's practice and experience in SHP have been widely disseminated in the worldwide.
