Dion Matta, first generation of Italian decent, was born in 1969, Montreal, Canada. He currently lives in Sainte-Julie, and has developed a style that is similar to the impressionnist painters of the 19th century: rich colors, texture and movement, using brush / spatula strokes. A common theme that can be seen in his paintings is the depiction of either rock surfaces or water subjects. Dion Matta shows both of these elements that are existing all around us-a road, a lake, a building. Calm or moving, water is presented in various tones of blue. His interpretation of beauty is depicted in natural landscape scenaries around the world, often of Italy and France. Matta's vision is to show his audience that painting is a form of communication which relates people to places, at specific times. As a hobby, Dion Matta is continuously refining his art through reading on techniques, painters and trends.
